Held Saturday 30th August 2008, Pukete Mountain Bike Park, Hamilton

Congratulations to Wazza - he did an excellent job of organising this and the club got in behind him as did some excellent sponsors. A lot of fun was had by all and there were prizes for almost everyone. Three uni-cycles turned up, some very hi-tech bikes brought from as far away as Auckland and Tauranga and one rustbucket, a sit-up-and-beg style step-through "ladies" bike called HMS Agnes, which easily won the coveted "Most Crap Bike" prize, had one very hard gear, back-pedal brakes and was even older than its ancient femle rider. The NZ Cyclocross Champs? 2009 Maybe?

It’s about time cyclocross came to NZ, and where better to stage an event that involves cold miserable weather, mud, hopefully rain, possibly fog, and a flat-ish paddock type course, than HAMILTON of course!

In the true spirit of the sport you can expect a course that will include mud, sand, running, obstacles, plenty of hurt, and afterwards beer & frites.

The track will be laid out to suit cyclocross style bikes, but can also be raced on mountain bikes. A training day may be held prior to the event, obstacles will be set up for people to practice on. The format will be very informal just bring your bike and ride.

The Details:

  • When: 2009 dates to be advised closer to the time. Times to be advised also
